The toughest part of writing this blog isn't the actual writing. It's the mp3 tagging.I found myself looking at my hard drive yesterday, wondering what show I should post up and write about next.
Looking through the live show mp3 folder - I found myself thinking, this is weird - why do I feel that I'm missing lots of shows here? Then I realized it - I have an inconspicuous little folder that's called "to tag," and in this folder were dozens of shows. Dozens of shows that had been carved up and tracked - but that were missing song titles and ID3 information aka tags.
I'm not sure how I'd forgotten about this folder - I think I'd just put it out of conscious memory. You see, I knew that these were all shows that required me to google lyric fragments, trying to figure out song titles.
So that's been my Sunday. Sitting here trying to figure out the names of dozens upon dozens of songs and then tagging the tracks to make them iPod and MP3 player friendly. Can you tell I know how to have a good time?
Through this voyage of song-title discovery I pulled up and listened to this Badly Drawn Boy set I taped back in October 2004. This was a small acoustic in-store set that he played at (the now sadly closed down) Cactus Music & Video. A beautiful stripped down set - I remember being especially impressed with the delicate interplay of the guitar and the flute. Relistening to the set I remembered why Damon Gough aka Badly Drawn Boy is considered one of the UKs finest songwriters.

All tracks are fantastic but track 9 is 'page not found' - love The Shining when BDB goes into a snippet of Lotus Eaters - first picture of you - genius !
BBC Radio 2 played BDB this morning - top stuff - hope he recovers from writers block soon - he is an ace songwriter - thank you very much for posting this quality concert !
