Continuing the Rilo Kiley round of posts - here's their Houston Texas show from their second Execution of All Things tour. It was the second time I'd seen them, the first having taken place just two nights earlier in Denton. It was also the first time I attended and taped a show at Fat Cat, a venue that I visited dozens more times over the next few years. It was a perfect little venue, decent raised stage, great long bar down the left hand side, and held about 150 people - near perfect amount of people for a show. Unfortunately the venues been shut down now - they built some condos behind it, and the resident who moved in filed a complaint. No more permit, no more Fat Cats. Shame.
Back to the show - it was a fantastic time. I dropped by earlier in the day to ask about taping and got to watch the band soundcheck for a while. Pretty much the same set as Denton, but with a couple of key differences, notably the inclusion of Run Devil Run as part of the soundcheck - which would be released on Jenny's solo record in 2005 and the addition of Science vs Romance at the end of the show.
