the elected, whispertown and margot... tour

The Elected are coming through town next week, and they're bringing Whispertown2000 and Margot and the Nuclear So-So's with them.

There has been ALOT of excellent shows over the last month in Texas - in fact October and November are pretty much turning out to be THE best months of live shows in 2006 for me.
With that said, this show is the probably the one I've been most excited about (followed up by Page France, Jude, Tilly and Jenny Lewis).

Three amazing indie-pop bands sharing one stage. It's going to be nice...

I've posted on Whispertown here and here - if you've never heard them go download these shows. Morgan, their lead singer, has a unique voice and folksy/blusy style of inflection, almost harkening back to Janis Joplin. You can also check out some studio tracks at their Myspace.

Check out Margot and the Nuclear So-So's at their MySpace. I highly recommend this band, definitely in my Top 5 Bands discovered in 2006. Richard Edwards' beautiful melodies sit front and center, backed by 7 other members who create layers upon layers of pop rock accented with horns and strings. They remind me of Jimmy Eat World (Bleed American Era) and Travis (The Man Who Era). Check out Skeleton Key below and the unreleased live track Real Naked Girls at their MySpace.

Margot... is also going on another minitour with Dirty On Purpose after they wrap up this one with the Elected. Check them out.

Live Dates:
Nov 28 2006 7:00P Kilby Court (All Ages) Salt Lake City, UT
Nov 29 2006 8:00P Larimer Lounge (21+) Denver , CO
Nov 30 2006 8:00P The Jackpot Lawrence, KS
Dec 1 2006 7:00P The House Cafe (All Ages) DeKalb, IL
Dec 2 2006 8:00P Subterranean Chicago, IL

And of course, the Elected - fronted by Blake Sennett who's sometimes known as the guitarist from Rilo Kiley.

Check out this track, Not Me - which appeared on a special bonus CD that came with their second record, Sun Sun Sun, when pre-ordered through their label, Sub Pop. I think thats the girls from Eisley singing the background vocals at the end. It's a good track and more representative of the electonic influened sound of their first record, Me First.
